How do I use a score?¶
You've received a link to a song, or you want to read a score on the digital music stand. Scores are read in View, which works even without an account. Below you'll find, step by step, what you can do and where the details are.
View doesn't play sound. Audio exists only in Write: to listen to a song, open it in Write. See also What View doesn't do.
Opening a link¶
A fly link contains the song: it always opens, even without an account and offline, but it's a snapshot and doesn't receive later changes. A hard link or a reactive link points to the saved song and always shows the current version; if the song is private you need permission (you can request it), and a protected link asks for the password. → The three kinds of link · Opening a song · Who can open a link · Access requests
Fitting the page¶
Width, height, zoom, page or scroll view, full screen: make the score fit your screen. → Reading and fitting the page
Changing the look¶
Music font, paper and ink colours, what to show or hide. → Customising the look
Transposing¶
Read the song in another key or for your instrument, without changing the song. → Transposing
Versions and lyrics language¶
If the song has several versions or several editions of the lyrics, choose which one to see. → Versions and lyrics language
Printing or saving as PDF¶
View exports the score as a PDF, to print or to keep; the PDF always comes out in black, and can be fitted on fewer pages. → Exporting to PDF
Going through a collection¶
A book or a playlist is read one song after another, with a bar to move back and forth. → Performing a collection · Playlist
Reading offline¶
Fly links and songs saved for offline open even without a connection. → Reading offline
Following a song live¶
With a reactive link the score changes by itself while someone edits it: handy at a rehearsal or a lesson. → Following a song live · Reactive link
Commenting on a song under review¶
If the song is under review and you have a role on it, you leave a comment on a measure. → Review comments · Who can comment
Reporting content¶
A song or a fly link that infringes copyright or the rules is reported with the flag. → Reporting content
